Three day Course to develop Coil Building skills.

Suitable for beginners and intermediate ability.

Over the three days you will learn various coiling techniques and build, refine and decorate two different pieces.

A bellied pot (approx 30cm x 30 cm) and a bottle/vase of a similar height.

A BREAKDOWN OF THE COURSE

Day 1 -

A focus on coiling techniques and building the two rough forms. You will begin by learning how to make coils, the recommended method to create a base, how to position and blend each coil as you build, to create the shape you desire.

Day 2 -

Refining and finishing each piece.

Using various tools and techniques to trim excess clay, alter the surface and perfect the form. There will be scope for decorative embellishment as an option.

Day 3 -

Decorating with coloured slip and sgraffito.

You will absolutely love the direct approach to decorating your pieces using liquid clay with colour (slips) and ‘scraffitto’. These techniques will be interpreted in your own unique way to compliment your coil pots.

Each day will start with a demonstration and explanation of relevant techniques

The cost includes all materials and equipment including 2 glazed & fired pieces which we will fire and glaze.

If the work needs to be posted this will be an additional cost of around £25 - £35 for P&P depending on the size and weight of the box. Also we pay extra for a ‘Fragile’ service to do the best we can to ensure no breakages.

**LUNCH - is an added option (£22.50)

12:30pm resuming at 1:30 pm.

We can provide a delicious lunch of fresh crusty bread, cheeses, cold meats & salad.
